USING STARS AS BATTERY

Image
Hello, my favorite earthlings, we are back again to perform some amazing science experiments with one of our favorite lab rats and that is none other than our sun. So, what should we do with him today?  How about, using the sun as the batteries for our car or our television, in other words, we would be using literal solar energy directly captured from the sun and using that very energy in our day-to-day use.  Well, something this crazy thought can only arise in the mind of a bond villain, but actually, this idea was first thought of by a Russian physicist named Dyson Sphere .   First, let's understand where this idea emerges from... This idea goes way back to 1839 with Edmond Becquerel, a young physicist working in France observed and discovered the photovoltaic effect- a process that produces a voltage or electric current when exposed to light or radiant energy, this was something that would change the ways humanity thinks about creating energy and push us to ...

Interesting Facts About Black Holes

Image
WHAT IS A BLACK HOLE? A black hole is a place in space where gravity pulls so much that even light can not get out. The gravity is so strong because matter has been squeezed into a tiny space. This can happen when a star is dying. Because no light can get out, people can't see black holes. They are invisible. Space telescopes with special tools can help find black holes. The special tools can see how stars that are very close to black holes act differently than other stars. Could a Black Hole Destroy Earth? Black holes do not go around in space, eating stars, moons, and planets. Earth will not fall into a black hole because no black hole is close enough to the solar system for Earth to do that. Even if a black hole the same mass as the sun were to take the place of the sun, Earth still would not fall in. The black hole would have the same gravity as the sun. Earth and the other planets would orbit the black hole as they orbit the sun now. The sun will never turn into a black hole....

The mystery of Bigfoot

Image
Bigfoot, or Sasquatch, is a giant ape-like creature that some people believe roams North America. It is a cryptid (opens in new tab) (or species rumored to exist), and just like the Chupacabra or Loch Ness monster(opens in new tab), there's scant physical evidence to suggest bigfoot is actually out there. But that doesn't stop alleged sightings of the ape that never shows its face or Bigfoot buffs from trying to prove there's life in the legend. Most Bigfoot sightings occur in the Northwest, where the creature can be linked to Indigenous myths and legends. The word Sasquatch is derived from Sasq'ets, a word from the Halq'emeylem language used by some Salish First Nations peoples in southwestern British Columbia, according to the Oregon Encyclopedia(opens in new tab). It means "wild man" or "hairy man" .   HISTORY OF BIGFOOT In 1958, Jerry Crew, a logging company bulldozer operator in Humboldt County, California, discovered a set of large, 410 mi...

What are fingernail moons?

Image
Here's what the little Halfmoon under our fingernails means. The human body is truly remarkable however it's sometimes easy to take it for granted. Your body is constantly giving you all sorts of signs and some of them you might not even know about. Take the lunula, for example, these are the pale Half moon-shaped patches under our fingernails that most of us ignore every day but did you know these features actually serve some very important purposes. This crescent-shaped patch is called a lunula which actually means small moon in Latin. You can see why it's given its name, doesn't it look like a crescent moon hanging in the night sky.  You might assume that everyone's lunulae looked the same but they actually appear in different ways on each person. For many people, the lunulae are most visible on their thumbs. Lunulae are part of your nail matrix. The matrix refers to the tissue just beneath your nail. It contains nerves, lymph, and blood vessels. They are respon...

Habits

Image
The word “habit” sounds ordinary, and it may also remind you of all those poems from preschool about waking up early, being neat and clean, making your bed, etc. however, this word masks the depth of its concept. We have never really tried to discover its dimensions. So now the question is, What is the truth of this word? What is it based on?. Habits are seen in all living organisms like snakes following the same path and ants walking in a straight line, and birds going back to their nests after sunset. Every organism follows a pattern, then what makes humans so special? The fact that we can develop new habits is the biggest superpower. But as we know, with great power comes great responsibility. This ability to develop habits makes it complicated, so to make it easier to decipher, it is further classified into two categories, ‘good ‘and’ bad’. Good habits can make you successful, triumphant, and profitable, but bad habits can bring you down to nothing, a void, or the end. Studies show...

How Does It Rain Fish?

Image
Fish don’t usually fall from the sky, but this unusual meteorological phenomenon is possible, although rare. Many countries throughout history have reported fish rain. Raining animals are seen in countries like Spain, France, India, Ethiopia, Singapore, and the United States. In Honduras, the phenomenon of it raining fish is a yearly occurrence. It is called “Lluvia de Peces.” The small town of Yoro has this happen once and sometimes twice a year. EXPLANATION – Scientific Explanation- The reason for this odd occurrence is that strong air disturbances, such as tornadoes can lift water and fish up into the air. Then, the tornado can carry them for some distance. When the tornado becomes weaker, its energy cannot hold objects up off the ground any longer, and it begins to rain fish. This can also be referred to as “animal rainfall,” but often, the event is simply described as “raining fish.” A tornado is a very strong wind that twists around itself. The inside of the tornado, known a...
