Enigma of chess

Many of you must have played chess atleast once in life. Have you ever thought that there are more possible iteration of a Game of chess than Atoms in observable universe. Intersting Right!  Let's look more into it~   The number of possible ways of playing the first four moves per side in chess is greater than the number of atoms in the observable universe.  HOW!? In chess, each player has 20 possible opening moves for their pawns and 16 possible opening moves for their pieces  leading to an expansive number of potential positions right from the start. As the game progresses, the number of possible moves for each player increases exponentially with each turn. The total number of possible chess games is estimated to be on the order of 10^120, a staggeringly large number often referred to as the Shannon number, named after Claude Shannon, a mathematician and computer scientist. This astronomical figure far surpasses the estimated number of atoms in the observable universe, which is o

Is It Possible To Sneeze With Your Eyes Open?

Image
You've probably heard the rumor that you can't sneeze with your eyes open because your eyes will pop out if you do. Is it impossible to sneeze with your eyes open? Let's find out in today's blog.   You've probably noticed that whenever you sneeze, your eyes automatically close right before you sneeze; most of us learn this eye-popping rumor, and honestly, and luckily it's a myth, your eyes will definitely not pop out. Fear not, fellow sneezers! The act of sneezing — also known as sternutation — will not cause your eyes to pop out, even if you do sneeze with your eyes open. If you sneeze, your eyes close just before a sneeze as an involuntary reflex; the brain sends a signal to the eye muscles telling them to close without you ever having to think about it. But why do our eyes automatically close? Experts can't say for sure, but many believe it could be a reflex that keeps all the icky stuff we sneeze out. Sneezing is just a way for your body to get rid of

What causes the earthy smell after rain?

Image
If you've ever taken a stroll outside after a storm, you've probably noticed a distinctive smell. Well, that smell is called petrichor, and it's often associated with spring, just like we frequently associate the smell of fresh-cut grass with summer. Here I mean, water itself doesn't have this smell, so why does rain. Let’s think and understand what exactly happens. Well, as it turns out, there's more than one kind of rain smell and several factors that cause it one smell comes before the rain hits the ground it's slightly sweet and sharp. It’s Petrichor! The earthy scent produced when rain falls on dry soil is technically called petrichor. The term “petrichor” was coined by Australian scientists in 1964. They investigated the aroma coming from moist clay, sediment, and rock. Numerous other studies were conducted later to figure out what causes petrichor and if we can artificially mimic it. The petrichor scent is generally caused due to the secretion of oils by

USING STARS AS BATTERY

Image
Hello, my favorite earthlings, we are back again to perform some amazing science experiments with one of our favorite lab rats and that is none other than our sun. So, what should we do with him today?  How about, using the sun as the batteries for our car or our television, in other words, we would be using literal solar energy directly captured from the sun and using that very energy in our day-to-day use.  Well, something this crazy thought can only arise in the mind of a bond villain, but actually, this idea was first thought of by a Russian physicist named Dyson Sphere .   First, let's understand where this idea emerges from... This idea goes way back to 1839 with Edmond Becquerel, a young physicist working in France observed and discovered the photovoltaic effect- a process that produces a voltage or electric current when exposed to light or radiant energy, this was something that would change the ways humanity thinks about creating energy and push us to greater heights of c

Interesting Facts About Black Holes

Image
WHAT IS A BLACK HOLE? A black hole is a place in space where gravity pulls so much that even light can not get out. The gravity is so strong because matter has been squeezed into a tiny space. This can happen when a star is dying. Because no light can get out, people can't see black holes. They are invisible. Space telescopes with special tools can help find black holes. The special tools can see how stars that are very close to black holes act differently than other stars. Could a Black Hole Destroy Earth? Black holes do not go around in space, eating stars, moons, and planets. Earth will not fall into a black hole because no black hole is close enough to the solar system for Earth to do that. Even if a black hole the same mass as the sun were to take the place of the sun, Earth still would not fall in. The black hole would have the same gravity as the sun. Earth and the other planets would orbit the black hole as they orbit the sun now. The sun will never turn into a black hole.

The mystery of Bigfoot

Image
Bigfoot, or Sasquatch, is a giant ape-like creature that some people believe roams North America. It is a cryptid (opens in new tab) (or species rumored to exist), and just like the Chupacabra or Loch Ness monster(opens in new tab), there's scant physical evidence to suggest bigfoot is actually out there. But that doesn't stop alleged sightings of the ape that never shows its face or Bigfoot buffs from trying to prove there's life in the legend. Most Bigfoot sightings occur in the Northwest, where the creature can be linked to Indigenous myths and legends. The word Sasquatch is derived from Sasq'ets, a word from the Halq'emeylem language used by some Salish First Nations peoples in southwestern British Columbia, according to the Oregon Encyclopedia(opens in new tab). It means "wild man" or "hairy man" .   HISTORY OF BIGFOOT In 1958, Jerry Crew, a logging company bulldozer operator in Humboldt County, California, discovered a set of large, 410 mi
